8 Days Walking Safari in remote parts of Serengeti National Park

Walking safaris are the purest form of safari. Walking safaris in Tanzania are completely different to game drives. On foot you are a participant in the world of wildlife rather than a spectator, which is a thrilling safari experience.

The Serengeti truly offers some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing and scenery in Africa. However, most visitors now experience this solely from a vehicle and often in the company of many other tourists and vehicles.

Feel, hear and smell Tanzania

Imagine, you walk on the same path as the elephants and other wildlife, you feel the wind through you hair, hear a lion roar in the distance and smell the bush and wildlife. Your senses awaken, as you become part of your environment and the wilderness becomes more real.

Wildlife up close and personal

While animals will generally ignore you in a vehicle, they see you as another type of animal when you are on foot. Getting up close and personal with wildlife is definitely a rush of excitement. Walking is also a great way to appreciate the smaller wildlife, which can’t be so easily seen from a vehicle.

ITINERARY

Day 0 - Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport

You will be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel in Arusha for your dinner and Overnight Stay, ready to start your safari journey proper in the morning.

Day 1 - Drive to Serengeti National Park

Drive into our wilderness zone and make your way to the trailhead. Once you enter the wilderness zone, you leave behind roads and any human activity. A private mobile camp and its crew will be waiting for your afternoon arrival.

Day 2 - 7 - Walking Safari in Serengeti

After an early breakfast and coffee from the fire begin to prepare for the day of walking. Once your bags are packed take off along small rivers surrounded by rolling hills and small rock out-croppings. With a GPS point as a reference take off on foot and make your way over rolling hills to the private camp that has packed up, driven around and set up for your arrival around lunch. The afternoon is spent relaxing from the days walk. Smaller bird walks or game drives are evening options. Over the course of your days of walking from camp to camp you’ll cover a large area of pristine wilderness on foot.

During the walks, you’ll be accompanied by your armed Fondness Vacation guide and natural history interpreter. Walking is about a wilderness experience in its entirety, from bird sounds in the distance to the tracks left by insects in the sand. It is the chance to cover a large area on foot much like our ancestors once did.

Days 8 - Deaprture

After breakfast the guest vehicle is packed up and you begin to make your way out of the wilderness zone to continue game viewing in the Serengeti or fly/drive to your next location.
